چکیده
Abstract: Background/Aim: Alzheimer’s disease (AD), a type of neurodegenerative disorder, possesses significant memory loss as one the cardinal manifestations. The pathophysiology AD includes increased accumulation A?, degeneration cholinergic activity and mitochondrial dysfunction. Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) especially alpha7 nicotinic (?7 nAChRs) are widely distributed in brain associated with function. Further, we explored correlation between dysfunction expression level ?7 nAChRs STZ challenged regions rats. Materials Methods: group rats received intracerebroventricular infusion (3 mg/kg) on D-1 D-3 experimental design 18 days. Behavioral parameters ware investigated using MWM Y-maze test paradigm. biochemical analysis was assessed all three Results: administration caused impairment learning There decrease functions terms elevated AChE decreased ACh ChAT rat hippocampus, pre-frontal cortex amygdala. significantly attenuated function, integrity bioenergetics selected regions. Interestingly, A? Conclusion: nAChR down regulation may form basis to cognitive deficits along dysfunction, sensitive Thus, could be an alternative potential target management AD. Key words: disease, Streptozotocin, nAChR, Mitochondria, Acetylcholine, Hippocampus.

BACKGROUND Inflammation processes are important participants in the pathophysiology of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. The role of the alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR) in inflammation has recently been identified. Our previous study has demonstrated that the α7nAChR-mediated cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway is impaired systemically in the genetic model of hyperte...

The alpha7-type nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) has been recognized as a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of a variety of pathologic conditions, including schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, and peripheral inflammation. A unique feature of alpha7 nAChRs that tends to complicate functional assays intended to identify selective drugs for these receptors is the strong concen...
متن کاملRegulation of alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the developing rat somatosensory cortex by thalamocortical afferents.
Distributions of alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) mRNA and [125]alpha-bungarotoxin (alpha-BTX) binding sites in the developing rat somatosensory cortex were characterized in relation to acetylcholinesterase (AChE) histochemical staining of thalamocortical terminals to investigate the role of this receptor in cortical development. Using quantitative in situ hybridization and recep...
متن کاملRegulation of alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in mouse somatosensory cortex following whisker removal at birth.
Previous studies in postnatal mouse demonstrating high levels of alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors on layer IV somatosensory cortical neurons coincident with the onset of functional synaptic transmission led us to investigate whether the number and/or the localization of these receptors could be regulated by activity. Accordingly, we examined alpha-bungarotoxin binding in mouse somatosen...
